"Rail roaded in to paying extra money when not needed to"

I went in to our local syston post office to send 2 old passports back to the passport office I called the passport office first to ask how to send these back to them I was told either by recorded delivery or standered delivery choice was mine ,on going in to the post office I was just going to buy a brown envelope and have it weighed except the blond haired lady behind the counter stopped me saying I had to have this recorded and she would check it and write the address on the recorded envelope all for £6.75 ,I told her no need to check it I done it online and everything was OK and they was only my old passports I was sending back , so I wasn’t bothered,but the nosey annoying lady was still insisting passport office gave out wrong information ,she never even checked inside all she done was write on the envelope! Is this another way of the post office making money again now that a lot of people don’t use them to look over there passport application and no longer get all those £10 for checking them ,dam right cheek surely the choice should of been mine to say how I wanted to post these back NOT HERS,I will never use this post office again ,.
