"Olympian speed on service - indigestion!"

A review of Casa Romana by Disappointed written on Tuesday 23rd of February 2010

Have been to this restaurant on a number occasions over the last seven years.

Went in February 2010 on a special celebration, sure that we would have a wonderful time, we were sadly disappointed.

We arrived promptly at 7.30 and expected (as usual) to have a leisurely dinner. Even before we had our coats off we were confronted by a waiter asking us for our choices. I really was taking my coat off and when I laughed, he said he would return when we were settled. That set the pattern for the whole evening.

Our starter arrived within minutes of ordering and the main course hit the table as soon as we had put our cutlery down and almost before we had time to draw breath. As soon as that was cleared the pudding menu appeared and we were being pressured into making a choice. We actually said at this point that we needed some time to digest the previous course but within five minutes the waiter was back asking for our choice. All in all the meal took about an hour. It was more like MacDonalds than Casa Romana. It was not as if it was particularly busy, I could have understood that, but what should have been a memorable night turned into a culinary nightmare. I cannot fault the food, as usual it was excellent. However, the speed at which it was delivered must have been to Olympian standards.
