"Closing of Bank accounts as now overseas, direction issued from Barclays!"

My name is Anthony Medland of Melbourne Australia.

I was directed to close our joint bank accounts which have been held for 40 years.

I responded to the letter on October 31st before the nominated date and I have now had 2 overnight messages on my mobile phone from a member of Barclay's staff, both leaving a message which I cannot fully understand/hear! Something about they require me to contact their UK office, with no discernible contact number provided.

My 31 October letter provided written approval from the joint account holders to close the accounts, plus the required transfer info to our Australian account. As no instructions were provided by Barclays on how to close these accounts, I had my Australian bank provide a listing of what should be required and that is what I have delivered to them.

More importantly, I also provided my email address just in case they needed to contact me, yet they have somehow found my correct mobile number which to my knowledge I have not provided in the past.

If someone from Barclays reads this, please just find my 31/10 letter to Barclays, Leicester LE87 2BB in one of their own email envelopes and use my email address to make contact..
